Volvo Cafe

Scandinavian design principles set the starting point for the Volvo Cafe concept. We wanted to carry the minimal elegance reflected in Volvo cars onto the cafe concept as well. Plants play an important role in the space built from natural materials. Plants and natural materials were used together on the wall panels. Just like Volvo, which draws inspiration from people and people’s needs and comfort, we aimed to make people feel relaxed and at ease while experiencing the space. The blue color from Volvo’s logo was used as small accents in the geometric-pattern tiles applied on the floor and across the ceiling as a whole. The geometric tiles used on the floor and the solid wood diagonal parquet are among the strong materials of the space. The effect of the diagonal chrome linear strip found at the front of Volvo cars can be felt in the space too. We integrated this diagonal feel into the design through the wall panel, the floor and the bar section. The colors of the space were once again set by the natural pastel tones used in Scandinavian designs. Cooler materials such as chrome and white marble were blended with warmer materials such as solid wood and copper, achieving balance within the space. The resulting atmosphere looks cool at first glance but, when experienced, feels harmonious with the user, soothing, and unified.
